This website – forsojourners.com – is setup to be a platform to share with other people about what is going on with our lives as well as to be a medium to post information about some of subjects that interest us… and that we hope interest you all as well.

Both Lana and I are missionary kids who spent a good part of our formative years in different parts of Asia. When not in Asia, our parents ushered us around to Oregon, Pennsylvania, Switzerland, California and Alaska while growing up. Since being married, we’ve lived significant amounts of time in Texas, Alaska, Minnesota, Washington and Taiwan together – although no where more than three years yet. We have friends and family in all of those places – which makes it hard to do a good job of communicating – hence this website.

The big things that define us are that we love God and we have two kids – Malachi and Maliah. Other things you should know is that we are kind of tree huggers, we are stoked about integrating faith with life, we vote all sorts of different ways, we speak Mandarin at a preschool level (but improving), we love outdoor activities/sports, and Lana is in love with Jack Bower (Hans retaliates by over eating).

Career wise, Hans is an engineer turned manager and Lana is an artist turned household administrator.

In general, we’ve been given very much in this life, and our desire and passion is to find ways to give back. They to whom much is given, much is required.
